Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 16, 2026
The short version: Talkio is built for kids, so we collect as little as possible. Your child's name is optional and only used inside the app to personalize their experience. Practice data stays on your device. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, in a way that is not designed to identify your child individually.
1.Who we are
Talkio ("we," "us," "our") is a speech pronunciation practice app designed for children, built and operated by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information Talkio collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you as a parent or guardian.
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at jateshkumarmaheshwari@gmail.com.
2.Information we collect
Talkio is designed to minimize data collection, especially because it is used by children. Here is exactly what is and is not collected:
| Data type | Collected? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Child's name | Optional | Entered voluntarily by a parent during setup to personalize the app. Stored locally on the device; never required to use the app. |
| Voice recordings | Processed, not stored | Audio captured during practice sessions is processed by Apple's on-device or cloud Speech Recognition framework to transcribe spoken words. Talkio does not record, save, or upload raw audio files. |
| Practice progress | Yes | Words practiced, accuracy, streaks, and session history, stored locally on the device using Apple's SwiftData framework. |
| Usage analytics | Yes | Anonymous, aggregated app usage data (e.g. screens viewed, feature usage, crash reports) collected via Firebase Analytics. Not used to build an advertising profile of your child. |
| Account/email/login | No | Talkio does not require creating an account or signing in with an email address. |
| Precise location | No | Talkio does not access or collect location data. |
| Advertising identifiers | No | Talkio does not use advertising SDKs and does not show ads. |
3.How we use information
Any information collected is used only to:
- Personalize the in-app experience (e.g. greeting your child by name, if provided)
- Transcribe spoken words so the app can give pronunciation feedback
- Track practice streaks, scores, and progress shown to the parent inside the app
- Understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it and fix bugs (via Firebase Analytics)
We do not use information collected through Talkio to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent any information to third parties.
4.Where your data lives
Talkio is designed to keep data on your device wherever possible:
- Practice history, streaks, and the child's name are stored locally on the device using SwiftData and are not transmitted to our servers.
- Voice audio is sent to Apple's Speech Recognition service solely to convert spoken words into text in real time, governed by Apple's own privacy practices. Talkio does not retain copies of this audio.
- Anonymous analytics events (such as which screen was opened or whether a session was completed) are sent to Google's Firebase Analytics service.
5.Third-party services
Talkio relies on the following third-party services to function:
- Apple Speech Recognition (Speech framework): used to transcribe a child's spoken words during practice sessions. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Analytics (Google): used to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's Privacy and Security policy.
We do not integrate any advertising networks, social media SDKs, or data broker services into Talkio.
6.Children's privacy (COPPA)
Talkio is designed for use by children under parental supervision and is intended to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations in other regions.
- Talkio does not require any personal information to function. Entering a child's name is entirely optional and is stored only on the device.
- Talkio does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children that is transmitted off-device, beyond the anonymous analytics described above.
- Voice audio is used transiently for speech-to-text conversion and is not stored or used for any other purpose.
- Parents can delete all locally stored data at any time by deleting the app, which removes all practice history and settings from the device.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information beyond what is described here, please contact us at jateshkumarmaheshwari@gmail.com and we will investigate and address it promptly.
7.Your choices and rights
- Optional name entry: You can use Talkio fully without ever entering your child's name.
- Local data deletion: Deleting the app from your device permanently removes all locally stored practice history, streaks, and settings.
- Notifications: Daily reminder notifications can be turned off at any time from within the app or from your device's system settings.
- Analytics opt-out: You can limit ad tracking and analytics collection through your device's Privacy settings (Settings → Privacy & Security).
Depending on your region, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California), including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8.Data security
We rely on Apple's platform-level security (including device encryption and sandboxing) to protect data stored locally on your device. Any data transmitted to Firebase Analytics is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
9.International users
If you use Talkio outside the United States, anonymous analytics data may be processed on servers located in the United States or other countries where Google's Firebase infrastructure operates.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Talkio after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
